We’re Back! The summer transfer window is open and I will be here to give you the best Arsenal transfer rumours daily and then give my own opinion on the transfers themselves. Reminder that we are just reporting these rumours and not originators of the rumours.
18th July: Neil Lennon has confirmed that Arsenal’s second bid for Celtic left back Kieran Tierney has been rejected and that the offer wasn’t what Celtic were looking for. It’s understood it was £25 million including add-ons but if Arsenal were to offer £25 million straight up then the bid would’ve been accepted. However, Lennon said yesterday they might expect more now after Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s move to Old Trafford for £50 million. (Daily Star) My Opinion: This is a crucial deal to get over the line for an excellent player in a position we need. As well as that he isn’t costing us a huge amount of money either so just pay Celtic the £25 million they want.
18th July: Arsenal look set to make a second and improved bid for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha as the Ivory Coast international looks to force his way out of the club. The 26 year-old has today said that he wants to leave the club on his return from his duties as the African Cup of Nations. (Sky Sports) My Opinion: I think that this would be an excellent signing but I believe the price tag will still be too high but if Zaha really wants to come to Arsenal then he will force himself out at Crystal Palace.
18th July: William Saliba has joined Arsenal according to Sky Sources and an official club announcement is expected in the coming days. The Gunners have beaten their North London rivals to the signature of the French centre back who is expected to join for a fee in the region of £25 million and the eighteen year old will be returning to Saint-Étienne on loan next season. (Sky Sports) My Opinion: I’m delighted with this signing as he seems to be a good young defender but I’m just disappointed that we have to loan him back to Saint-Étienne for next season.
17th July: Dani Ceballos looks set to join the Gunners on a season long loan deal with NO option to buy at the end of the loan deal and there is reports saying that this deal will be wrapped up by the end of the week (Mundo Deportivo) My Opinion: I think this would be a very good signing as we now in need of a creative midfielder after the departure of Aaron Ramsey but it’s just a shame that we can’t get him on a permanent deal.
17th July: Former Barcelona, Juventus and PSG right back Dani Alves looks set to sign on a free transfer for Arsenal. The 36 year old is looking to be brought in to provide cover for currently injured Hector Bellerin but his £230,000 per week wages are causing a problem. It’s understood he will take a pay cut down to £200,000 per week for one year in North London (Metro) My Opinion: This would be an excellent signing as cover for Bellerin for the year but them wages are expensive.
17th July: Brazilian superstar Everton Soares looks to be ready for a medical at Arsenal ahead of his reported £36 million move to the Emirates. The 23-year-old winger looks to make the move from Grêmio to Arsenal after winning the golden boot at the recent Copa America (UOL) My Opinion: This would be a fantastic singing as he is a young, quick and skilful winger who has shown a lot of quality. It’s also a more affordable price compared to the ridiculous price tag on Crystal Palace winger Wilfred Zaha.
