Match preview: Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur

The Premier League will provide football fans all over the world with a blockbuster of a fixture on Wednesday – or, at least we hope – as Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.

Both sides continue to remain around the top of the tree this Christmas period on 25 points each and this game will provide one of them with the ideal opportunity to start pulling away from the rest of the pack.

With their ‘main’ title challengers having already slipped up in regards to Chelsea and Manchester City, this clash between Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho could have plenty on the line and one that many bettors who use the best USA online casinos would love to get involved with.

Form news

Liverpool will come into this game on the back of some rather mixed form, as they have been unable to win back-to-back games since the end of October when they beat Sheffield United and West Ham United in consecutive matches.

Since then, Klopp has had to witness his side draw 1-1 and then win comprehensively over the last five matchdays. With their 1-1 draw against Fulham disappointing and a shock, they will want to ensure they are out of the traps and first to everything on Wednesday.

Tottenham have also had some strange form in recent weeks which just goes to show how different this Premier League season is compared to many other editions that have been played over the last 28 years.

Spurs were left scratching their heads at the weekend as Vicente Guaita’s wonder-saves – yes, he made more than one – kept them out despite a howler gifting Harry Kane a soft goal meant they were limited to just one point. Sometimes you have all the luck and sometimes you just do not, as those who play casino games will be able to back up.

Mourinho’s men have also gone on a draw-win sequence over the last four matchdays, although theirs could be considered better as they have faced the likes of London rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in the other three contests of the four.

Team news

Everybody knows the injury plight that Liverpool have gone through because of the scheduling that has taken place (right, Jurgen?) and their calls for five substitutes continue to happen, despite Chris Wilder’s objections and seemingly nobody else? Strange when 14 votes are needed…

Joel Matip is the latest doubt as he was replaced in the match against Fulham with a back issue, but he will be assessed ahead of the contest. Naby Keita could return, though, which might put a smile back on Klopp’s face!

For Tottenham and Mourinho, Gareth Bale is still recovering from illness (and has not made a Premier League appearance for over a month, by the way) whilst Erik Lamela remains on the sidelines.
