3 best fantasy football captains for GW25

Leicester City host Chelsea in the opening game of this weekend’s EPL action, whilst Saturday concludes with a big game between Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers. In between there are some potentially exciting matchups between West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion, and Watford at home Everton.

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to close the gap on the teams above them when they host Manchester City on Sunday, whilst Arsenal go to Burnley on the same day.

Here are our tips for this gameweek 25’s Premier League fantasy football:

Sergio Aguero

Manchester City at Tottenham Hotspur could be an end-to-end and high-scoring matchup. They played out a 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium back in August, whilst both teams have been leaking goals this season.

One player who you can expect to be among the goals in a goalfest would be Sergio Aguero. The Argentine striker has scored in each of his last four Premier League outings, scoring seven goals in total. He also scored against Spurs earlier in the season.

Jose Mourinho has had a reputation of playing spoiler in games before but I don’t see Tottenham having the defensive form to do that this weekend. What’s more, he’ll probably have confidence in his attack creating lots of chances versus this Manchester City defence that could include John Stones and Fernandinho in the back four, regardless of Harry Kane’s injury.

Roberto Firmino

Liverpool should pick up another three points on Saturday when they welcome Southampton to Anfield. Whilst the Saints are in decent form they will be no match for the runaway Premier League leaders.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have dropped just two points in their first 24 games this season and I don’t expect that number to increase after this weekend. Southampton have improved defensively recently but when they have conceded a lot of central players have been among the goals.

Therefore I am looking at striker Roberto Firmino to get among the goals this weekend. There would be no harm in going with former Southampton forward Sadio Mane, or Mohamed Salah as your captain instead though.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Everton travel to Watford on Saturday to face a side whose honeymoon period under Nigel Pearson appears to be over.

Since appointing a new manager themselves, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been on fire. Carlo Ancelotti is getting the best out of the striker, so much so that I can see him being named in the England national team for next month’s games.

As for this weekend, I expect Everton to score a couple of goals, and if so, I would expect Calvert-Lewin to be among them.
