3 best fantasy football captains for GW24

Gameweek 24 of fantasy football sees both Liverpool and West Ham United in action twice. The Reds go to Wolves on Thursday 29 January and then to East London on Wednesday 29th, after the weekend’s FA Cup action. The Hammers’ first game is away to Leicester City on Wednesday 22nd, so whilst you may want to consider putting a player or two of theirs into your team, you’re unlikely to want to make them captain.

In other notable games during the full midweek fixtures, Manchester City go to Sheffield United, Frank Lampard’s Chelsea host Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur host Norwich City.

Here are my tips for your gameweek 24 fantasy football captain:

Sadio Mane

The Senegalese forward scored the only goal of the game as Liverpool beat Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of December. Sadio Mane is in good form as is the Liverpool front three in general, so will be a good choice as your captain for their two upcoming fixtures in the single gameweek.

Wolves have kept just two clean sheets this season so don’t expect them to shut out the runaway Premier League leaders on Thursday. Whereas Liverpool have gone seven-and-a-half Premier League games without conceding – Mane could benefit for a clean sheet bonus point in either or both games.

Mohamed Salah

The Egyptian forward scored the second goal as Liverpool beat Manchester United 2-0 on Sunday at Anfield. Mohamed Salah has been in decent form of late, though not at his peak by his standards. He certainly prefers to take the shot in instead of passing to a nearby teammate of late so you can expect him to fire in lots of efforts over Liverpool’s next two games, assuming he starts both.

Jurgen Klopp does have Takumi Minamino to break into his side and Divock Origi waiting in the wings, but I think Roberto Firmino and Mane are the players more likely to be sacrificed among the regular front three.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

The Liverpool right-back is providing crosses for fun down the right wing and from set pieces. Trent Alexander-Arnold is already running away in the assist category among defenders, whilst is benefiting from clean sheet after clean sheet in recent weeks.

Alexander-Arnold takes the odd attacking free kick and scores the occasional goal so you could benefit even further in either of Liverpool’s two games this gameweek.
