4-3-3: Lovren & Moreno Out – Liverpool Strongest Possible Lineup For Chelsea Clash

Chelsea and Liverpool go head-to-head in the Premier League this weekend. Both teams are in good form which makes it all the more interesting. Chelsea are third in the Premier League table; three points above the Reds. Jurgen Klopp and his team will know they can’t afford to lose this match and possibly approach the match with the intention to get maximum points.

The Reds were brilliant in the first half of their UEFA Champions League clash away to Sevilla on Tuesday. They scored three goals in the opening 45 minutes but then conceded three goals in the second half to draw 3-3. Klopp knows his defence will need to be at their best to shut out the duo of Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata, who are in hot form.

Both Dejan Lovren and Alberto Moreno have been poor in recent weeks and there is a real chance both could be dropped for the Chelsea clash on Saturday. Trent Alexander-Arnold, who missed the Sevilla game, but was superb against Southampton in Liverpool’s last Premier League game, is likely to get the nod at right-back.

After a woeful performance against Sevilla, we expect Moreno to be dropped and Andrew Robertson called upon. Lovren did well against Southampton but was one of the culprits against Sevilla. Unfortunately, Liverpool’s only other option in that position to partner Joel Matip is Joe Gomez, and he himself hasn’t done particular well, hence we expect to see Lovren in the starting lineup again.

Matip missed the Sevilla match due to injury but Jurgen Klopp has since confirmed he could be back in the team to face Chelsea. But if he is not fit for the match then we could see a centre-back pairing of Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren. Lloris Karius we believe will keep his place in the team ahead of Simon Mignolet in goal.

Adam Lallana has returned from injury but didn’t play against Sevilla. Obviously he is not yet match fit and we do not expect him to be called upon from the start against Chelsea. He could make the bench but he is unlikely to start.

We expect Roberto Firmino to lead the attack and be supported by both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, with Philippe Coutinho expected to operate from behind the trio from midfield.
