Leon Goretzka Off To Liverpool – Not Arsenal Or Tottenham?

[contact-form-7 404 "Not Found"]

Readers of this blog will know we strongly believe, or should I say, believed, that Leon Goretzka would be joining Arsenal and not Liverpool. However, after reading a statement credited to RB Leipzig director of football, Oliver Mintzlaff, yesterday, we are beginning to change our stance. According to Oliver Mintzlaff, Naby Keita, who will be joining Liverpool in the summer was “enthralled” by Jurgen Klopp, and for that, he rejected a move to Barcelona for Liverpool.

Rejecting Barca for Liverpool for the opportunity to work under Klopp? That’s massive. It is not a common thing to hear in football that a player, an established player, who will certainly be in the first eleven, would reject the Spanish giants for a club like Liverpool.

We all know German players have a liking for Jurgen Klopp, for his achievements at Borussia Dortmund, but what we never knew is that it is so much that it could make anyone choose Liverpool over Barcelona. And for this reason, we now believe Leon Goretzka could well be on his way to Anfield instead of Arsenal. The German midfielder has been linked intensely with both clubs over the past few weeks.

German national team manager Oliver Bierhoff had recently hinted that the player will be playing in the Premier League soon but it is not clear which club he will join. Aside from Arsenal and Liverpool he has also been linked with Tottenham.

But could the influence of Klopp help Liverpool win the race? Never say never. The race we strongly believe is between Liverpool and Arsenal. Could Klopp be more persuasive than Arsene Wenger here?  Only time will tell.

  1. I think the uncertainty surrounding Wenger will also have an influence. For a young player to sign for a big club and then see the manager you signed with no longer there is a serious risk to the players growth. There is little chance of Klopp leaving Anfield, in addition to which he will be a starter in a formidable attacking team there. Whereas we really don’t know how much longer Wenger will remain in charge of Arsenal, rumblings of discontent have been going on now for several years.

  2. I absolutely agree with dale & he will choose LFC over arsenal because they are not in champions league & Liverpool will make sure they will not make champions league again come the end of this season to that’s why Leon goretzka will be playing for liverpool come Jan leon also loves klopp & that will initially help clinch the deal… YNWA…

  3. For a club like Liverpool? Am i missing something? Has our club not won 5 Champions league trophies? Thats more than your FAMOUS Barca. I think someone needs to read up about LFC history and see we aint no AVERAGE club…

  4. I personally believe that Wenger hasn’t got the pull his once had in attracting players and when he they were mainly French players and Now Klopp seems to have that attraction for German players !!
So I truley hope this is correct and Klopp had done his Magic in attracting Leon goretzka to Liverpool and even though he’s available on a free come the next summer that Liverpool need to offer what ever it takes to get him here in January !!! While Klopp is at it how about a couple of CB’s also with 1 more LB would be good or another RB to allow Gomez to play as a CB and Arnold would need cover with Clyne out I expect for the season…. So my question to all you Liverpool fans is what or which CB’s would you like at the club either come Jan or next summer ?? Many I expect will say VVD in Jan for how much £70M especially if Man City and Chelsea are bidding and even if VVD wants Liverpool I’m sure Southampton will tell Liverpool to match the others offer ?? So who else ? I have maybe 5 or 6 I would be interested in apart from VVD such as Stefan De Vrij, or one of my favourites is Kalidou Koulibaly who at 6″4 or 6″5 is a Monster in the Air which we certainly require and veey very Physical and would cost upto €30M, one CB not being mentioned and I don’t know why not is a German J Tah great CB, or a CB who is very Young and plays for Ajax and that’s Ligt and I’m aware Barcalona are chasing him !!! So just a few CB’s that I like the look at and should we go through to the next round of the C/L then we would be even more popular as a team attracting world class players… YNWA
