Manchester United are widely expected to sign Antoine Griezmann this summer. The Frenchman was close to signing for them this past summer but the deal could not go through as Atletico Madrid failed to get their FIFA transfer ban overturned by CAS. With the Spaniards able to sign players again starting from January, United may finally get their man – certainly not this winter, but in the summer.
Although there has been reports that Barcelona have agreed a deal in principle with Griezmann, we believe the reports are just rumours from the media. The smart money is still on United signing the former Real Sociedad player next summer.
Aside from Griezmann, below are the three players we feel will follow him to Manchester United in the summer:
The 27-year-old was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer but nothing materialised. With Ben Davies now Tottenham’s first choice left-back, ahead of Rose, we believe there is a real chance the Red Devils will finally succeed in their attempt to sign the England international. This past summer the defender voiced his displeasure at not getting “his worth” in terms of wages and not winning titles. His outburst led to him being dropped from the team and that could ultimately be the end of his career at Tottenham. That could however be United’s gain as Jose Mourinho looks for a replacement for Luke Shaw.
The Croatian star was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer as well, but the Red Devils balked at Inter Milan’s reported £50 million asking price. With reports that Jose Mourinho was unhappy at the club’s failure to get his key target, and United already promising him to make amends, it would not be a surprise if they finally get Perisic next summer. The signing of the Croatian could well be the end of Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Manchester United, as Perisic would likely to be coming to take the Armenian’s place in United’s first eleven.
The Brazilian is another player who was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer. The former Shakhtar Donetsk star has lost his place in Antonio Conte’s first eleven at Chelsea, which could well make it easier for the Red Devils to sign him next summer. Jose Mourinho certainly likes the Brazilian and a reunion of the two at Old Trafford is certainly possible. The Blues are said to be interested in signing Shakhtar Donetsk’s Brazilian midfielder Bernard, who could be the replacement for Willian in the Chelsea team.
