Mesut Ozil To Man United, £36m To Replace Him At Arsenal?

I like Arsenal and Germany international midfielder Mesut Ozil a lot. The former Werder Bremen star did wonders in Real Madrid colours. Unfortunately he has found life very difficult in the English Premier League and has rightly been criticised.

The German is now at the tail end of his current contract with the Gunners and rumour has it that he could be on his way out of the Emirates.

The former Real Madrid star has been linked with some Turkish clubs but anyone who has been watching football over the last five years knows Ozil won’t go to Turkey – at least for now.

Manchester United have also been linked with the German international and I think that move would be a sensible one. A transfer to Old Trafford would see him reunite with his former Madrid boss, Jose Mourinho, under whom he had the best season of his career.

Will Arsenal sell?

Wenger recently confirmed both Ozil and Sanchez could leave as early as this January. It is unfortunate but Arsenal have shot themselves in the foot yet again. The duo are in the last eight months of their contracts which means Arsenal may have to sell or risk losing them for free.

I firmly believe Arsenal will sell Ozil and Sanchez this winter should the right offer be made.

However, one move that could make sense for Arsenal is a swap deal involving Ozil moving to Old Trafford and Anthony Martial going the other way.

The Gunners were last summer linked with the signing of the £36 million Manchester United star and from all indication, Wenger is a keen admirer of the former AS Monaco star. With Sanchez also likely to depart, signing Martial would make a lot of sense for the North Londoners.

A move to Arsenal for Martial would be beneficial for both parties. With Sanchez unlikely to sign a new contract, the 21-year-old French forward would have the opportunity of playing regular first-team football for Arsenal either on the right or left of their attack. Martial is certainly a good player but not getting the chance he deserves under Mourinho as the Portuguese boss does not appear to be a fan.

I am convinced Martial could be as good as Kylian Mbappe under the right manager. Could that manager be Wenger?
