Premier League Scores and Highlights

Premier League Scores: Result and Highlights from the EPL Fixture between Liverpool v Newcastle United on Sunday, November 04, 2012.

Result: Liverpool 1 – 1

Location: Anfield – Liverpool

Liverpool – 1 Newcastle – 1
Luis Suarez (67’) Yohan Cabaye (43’)

As I predicted the match ended in a draw. I think this was a fair result considering the way the match went. Liverpool dominated throughout most of the match. When Newcastle had the ball they did look threatening.

Newcastle did go ahead first in the 43rd minute when Yohan Cabaye took a cross on his chest in the box and was left all along on the far side to shoot past Brad Jones into the upper corner. It was a well taken strike to put Toon ahead before the break.

In the 67th minute Luis Suarez put Liverpool on top. Suarez did an excellent job of taken the long pass on his chest, then one touch past the keeper to have the wide open shot. It was a very ironic goal considering Steven Gerrard’s comments last week about Everton being a long ball side. Now this week his team’s only goal comes from a long ball into the box.

Fabricio Coloccini earned himself a red card when he put a high boot into Suarez’s shin. This is not good news for Newcastle who will now be without the defender for West Ham, Swansea and Southampton.

Liverpool could have won the match, but were only able to put 6 out of the 23 shots on goal. They completely dominated possession with 66% of the ball. This is what Brendan Rodgers wants, but if they want to get into the top half of the league, they are going to have to start doing more with it.

Week 11 Sunday EPL Match Highlights [VIDEO]

Sunday’s Week 11 matches included Manchester United v Arsenal as well as Tottenham taking on Newcastle, Sunderland at Manchester City and Swansea City hosting Stoke City. The day began with Tottenham slipping up at home against Newcastle after a 13’ goal from Loic Remy. This was a match in which Spurs completely dominated in everything except goals.

Week 11 Saturday EPL Match Highlights [VIDEO]

Week 11 of the Premier League had some rather controversial decisions to add to the video highlights. Liverpool and Southampton both climbed the table to move into second and third, respectively. The biggest talking point from Saturday was the contentious 96th minute penalty given to Chelsea to pull off a 2-2 draw.

    • I think that Brendan Rodgers plan will work out well in the long run, but it will take time for it to really come together. I’m sure that they will make some changes in the January transfer window and push themselves up the table in the second half of the season.
